Do I need to book my ticket online in advance?

During the summer season, up to and including 8 November 2026, a time slot reservation is required for the gondola ride up to Oeschinensee. You need a valid ticket and a reserved time slot for your ride up.

We recommend booking your ticket online before you arrive. You choose your time slot for the ride up when you book. This secures your ride within your chosen time slot.

If your plans change, you can change your time slot online free of charge, provided there are still places available in your preferred new time slot.

Important: you can also buy tickets on site at the ticket machines, subject to availability. There are no staffed ticket counters. On peak days, you have the best chance of finding time slots on site for rides up before 09:00 or after 13:00. Availability cannot be guaranteed.

On busy days, waiting times to buy tickets on site can be several hours between 09:00 and 14:00. If all tickets are sold out, you cannot take the gondola up without an advance reservation.

If all standard time slots are fully booked online, we recommend choosing another day to visit and booking in advance.

Your reservation for the gondola ride does not guarantee a parking space in Kandersteg. We recommend travelling by public transport. If you come by car, plan to arrive in Kandersteg before 10:00.
